Singapore Archifest is a space for imagination, conversation, and speculation. It intends to be a platform for people from all walks of life to participate in uninhibited dialogue, creative collaboration, and thoughtful, collective deliberation, in relation to contemporary architectural issues. And with every iteration of the festival, we work towards the cultivation of a more design-conscious society and vibrant creative culture.

ABOUT THE TEAM

THE ORGANISERS

The Singapore Institute of Architects (SIA) is a professional organisation established in 1963 with the objective of promoting the architectural profession and the built environment in Singapore.

The Institute’s mission is to champion excellence in Architecture and the Built Environment, and its vision is to see Singapore recognised as an Architecture Capital.

Today, SIA stands as the sole representative of the architectural profession in Singapore, with a membership of over 1,000 architects engaged in diverse specialisations across the built environment sector.

CONVERGENCE:
THEMES AND VARIATIONS

Since 2007, Singapore Archifest has brought together architects, students, and the public to explore the ideas shaping how we design, build, and experience cities.

This year's 20th edition positions the festival as a meeting point of scales, voices, and approaches—bridging making and thinking, memory and invention, individual authorship and collective practice, and local and global exchange.

This year’s programme highlights how architectural knowledge develops across studios, offices, classrooms, and public life, exploring craft, collaboration, and insight in creating spaces that respect cultural legacies while addressing today’s urban realities.

Contributions from past festival directors frame Archifest as both an archive of ideas and a laboratory for shaping the future of architectural practice.

RT+Q ARCHITECTS

Singapore Archifest 2026 is curated by RT+Q Architects, with Festival Director Ar. Rene Tan leading the team.

Following the positive reception of the 2025 festival, curated around the theme “Don’t (Just) think like an Architect!”, the team was reappointed in 2026 to lead Archifest’s 20th edition.

Since 2003, the Singapore-based practice founded by Ar. Rene Tan and Ar. TK Quek has explored architecture as an interdisciplinary craft, balancing the poetic qualities of art with the rigour of building. RT+Q has received numerous awards in Singapore and internationally, including the SIA Architectural Design Awards, PAM Awards, URA Architectural Heritage Awards, ARCASIA Awards for Architecture, and the Chicago Athenaeum International Architecture Award. Rene was also named Designer of the Year at the Singapore President’s Design Awards in 2016.

Beyond practice, RT+Q is actively engaged in academia and discourse, with its founding partners teaching at leading institutions and speaking at international forums. Rene also initiated Le Corbusier: The Travelling Exhibition (The RT+Q Private Collection), a growing body of models presented at academic and professional institutions worldwide, engaging students, industry, and the public, and endorsed by the Fondation Le Corbusier.

In 2023, Thames & Hudson published Rethinking the Tropical House: 20 Years of RT+Q Architects, featuring 29 projects from a portfolio of over 200 dwellings built over two decades.
